UPPER TURRET: The mechanic-gunner manned this power-operated turret, armed with two .50 caliber machine guns.

PHOTOGRAPHY STATION: This area was located aft of the upper turret and shows its original configuration.  This depiction is not accurate for PBJs that were deployed to the Pacific as the transparent blister at the back of the aircraft was modified to fit an ordnance-gunner with a single .50 caliber machine gun.

Ordnance-Gunner's Station

ORDNANCE-GUNNER'S STATION: C and D-model PBJs deployed to the Pacific were modified with the addition of tail armament.  Manned by an ordnance-gunner with a single flexible .50 caliber machine gun, this modification was later refined in the H and J-model PBJs to a much roomier station with two .50 caliber machine guns in power operated turret.
